How To Put on Scoot Enduros & Check The Fit

Finding your optimum fit is important to us. It will ensure your hoof boots stay secure for the entire period of use. Please follow these instructions before riding in your boots

When you try on your hoof boots for the first time try them on grass, rubber matting or a towel so they remain unmarked. This ensures you can exchange them in new condition if you need a different size.

You will need

A clean flat surface (eg towel, cardboard, rubber mat)
A phillips head screwdriver (minimum 20cm/8” length)
A flat head screwdriver

Fitting

Undo the Front Straps and release the Mud Straps. Pull one Mud Strap side out of the Collar.

Slip the Enduro onto the hoof and check it is a snug fit.

Fasten the Front Straps and leave the Mud Straps open.

Pick up your horse’s hoof with the sole facing upwards and slip the toe of the hoof into the boot.

Check Bulb Strap Tension

The Bulb Strap must sit firmly over the heel bulbs.

If not, remove the Enduro and adjust the rear screw
positions using both screw drivers to tighten.

Underrun and High Heeled Horses

If the Bulb Strap is sitting too low you can either try the medium Bulb Strap (included in the accessories bag), or it can be lifted higher by inserting the Bulb Strap Extender.

Bulb Strap Extender

Low Heeled Horses or Rear Hooves

Enduros are designed for high heeled hooves, but may suit some horses with low heels. Ensure there is space between the base of the pastern and the Bulb Strap to prevent potential rubbing.

Loosen or tighten the straps if needed.

Clearance Zone

Alternatively the Bulb Strap can be removed and replaced with the Extender to support the position of the Mud Strap. This option is not recommended for extreme riding.

Mud Strap Fitting

Bring the Mud Straps around the pastern and thread both through the Collar.

Slide the Mud Strap loops through the bottom Front.

Strap and secure the Front Strap on the Knob Hook.

Secure the top Front Strap making sure it sits over the Mud Straps.

Ensure the Collar is positioned above the Enduro.

Mud Straps should have a snug fit around the pastern.

There should be slight upward tension with the lower Front Strap.

Tip 1. If your horse is new to Scoot Boots, take it gently at first. Just like human shoes, your Scoots will adapt to your horse's hooves and soften over time.

Tip 2: Use a hoof pick or pliers if the front straps are difficult to close.

Final Check

You may wish to cut excess length from the Bulb Straps once you have confirmed the fit is correct.

After you have ridden in the Enduros and you are satisfied with the Bulb Strap tension, you have the option of tightening the screws permanently with loctite or nail polish.

If not, it is important to check screws periodically to ensure they are still tight.

If you are not sure about the fit of your Enduro, then please take photos of the fit from all angles and send them to us. Our fitting experts will evaluate the fit and provide you with further advice.
